Welcome to my website!
What is this?
This is my first web page! How exciting!
As of now, the only part of the website that's ready for production (or close enough that I feel fine about posting it, anyway) is my Toki Pona translation of Human by Flavor Foley: https://selina-pantoko.neocities.org/Juman
This website...
- was/is coded in the GNOME text editor and web browser
- uses Unifont, which can render more unicode characters than any other single font, and has a nice pixelated look.
Unfortunately, for some reason, when I embed it in this website, it usually renders the Devanagari__ ि character way to the left of where it's supposed to be. It doesn't do that when I use my own computer's unifont installation in an offline version of this site. No idea why it's a problem here. Anyway. So I have to use a different font (Khula Light (believe it or not it looks more like Unifont than any other Devanagari-compatible font I'm allowed to use)) for Devanagari specifically. - नि लि सितेलेन् तेवानाकालि...
- does not require any JavaScript. If you block it, keep it blocked. Everything will work fine.
- JavaScript is what powers almost all tracking on the web, so many people (myself included) choose to disable it, or at least have it off by default.
- Sites that use a lot of JS also make my computer's fans speed up, a lot, and I don't want to hurt it.
Assorted 88x31 buttons I've been collecting like trinkets
Why do I want to learn HTML?
- Making a website looks fun
- I will use mine for
- Hosting whatever cool little projects I make, like:
- The Toki Pona translation of Human
- If Flames Unseal: https://archiveofourown.org/works/65129773/chapters/167506408
- Fun fact about me: I make a point of always making the link text the same as the link address, so the reader can tell at a glance where a link will take them, and so that in cases where someone can only see what I've written but not interact with it (screenshots etc), they can still follow the link.
- The interactive version of If Flames Unseal that would closely emulate FE14's cutscenes that I may or may not actually get around to making
- Digital scrapbooking! Based on that text document I have in my phone
- Many of the things I already use social media for, like...
- Microblogging!
- Keeping up with internet friends!
- Self expression!
- Wow I have a lot of tags open
- It's good to keep your opening tags and closing tags at the same indent level in your text editor, so you can more easily keep track of what's open and closed
- Hosting whatever cool little projects I make, like:
- I think I've closed all of them.
- Fingers crossed!
- That's about it really
- It's better for my brain than doomscrolling
